Default Printing Out Books.... Possible/Feasible?

I have a couple of books in pdf form that I would like to print out.

Using a commercial printer to do it.

That could be expensive.

I was thinking they could perhaps print it out on an A2 sheet with four pages on each side of the sheet. That way I get eight pages per sheet. Only need 25 sheets for a 200 page book.

I don't know their rates but perhaps affordable at that.

Take it home and cut it up myself.

Then it crossed my mind that perhaps it would be best if I could prepare everything before taking it to them.

Get the pdf into Word, perhaps and then set it up for printing out in that way.

Then take them the Word document. All they have to do is push the button and take my money.

Would that work? Can Word help me with that? What must I do?

Talk to the commercial printer first. They will tell you what format they require and what the cost options are.

fwiw, our local copy-centre put up a sign behind the counter a while back: "We don't print Word any more – .pdf only" Too many problems with other people's assortment of versions and local fonts, I suppose …

I went down there to talk to them today.

There's only one in town.

Two of them slack females behind the counter too busy doing their own thing to be bothered dealing with customers - you know the type?

I'll give a ring and ask to talk to a printer or perhaps I can find an email for them. Didn't used to be like that. Was a real good place once.

Copy centre given up on Word! Sounds counter-productive to me. Even if they haven't the computer savvy nowadays there's local schoolkids will give it free.

But .pdf only sounds good for me. Maybe I can just take the pdf down there and they'll do it.... wouldn't that be good....
