Default documents saved with double column revert to single column when re-opened

I am a pastor and I type out all of my messages on landscape and double column so that my notes are on half sheets. Since this morning, when I open up any of my old sermons that were saved as double column, they are all landscape single column, though in the layout menu, double column is still highlighted. I have to select single column and then double column in order to get it to change back to double column. However, when I save it and close it, it all reverts back to single column when I re-open it. Can someone please help me with this issue? I have tried shutting down my computer and re-starting it, but it continues to do this.

Does this mean that you type your sermon on the left-hand side and use the right-hand side for your notes? If so, you would be better served by using a two column table so that your sermon would not run into your notes. If not, it would help to have a sample uploaded to look at.

Jim, Thanks for your reply. I type my messages in landscape, double column and then cut the pages in half and put them in the correct order so that my notes fit inside my Bible when I am preaching. I'm not sure how to upload a document to this forum, but would gladly send you a copy so that you can see what I am talking about. Thank you.

Your document is displaying in newspaper columns on my system. Make sure that you are viewing the document in Print Layout view. Read Mode, Web Layout view, Draft view, or Outline view won't show the columns.

You are welcome.

Note, however, that if your right-most column is supposed to contain comments for the text on the left, you may find a two-column table more useful than newspaper style columns. Just add a new row when you want to content to "line up" vertically.

You can add or remove table borders as required.
