Em dash and closing curly quotation mark
how can I get a curved speech Mark after an em dash.
Every time I try to do it the speech Mark is the wrong way around Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 04-07-2015 at 09:24 AM. Reason: changed title to give more info and marked as solved |

The issue relates to the algorithm that converts straight quotes to smart quotes. However if you enter the required character directly from the keyboard, the correct required character is not subject to the conversion.
Workarounds include typing ALT+0146 on the numeric keypad, or do that then save the character as a formatted autocorrect entry using an easily remembered key combination as a trigger e.g. on a UK pattern keyboard #' works for me.

Otherwise, if you first type the closing quotation mark and then insert the M-dash, it should work.
