Default What color is my font? How to tell?

In Photoshop I could use the eye drop tool and the color palette to find out exactly what a color is. How do I do so for Word? Time ago I created a document with some lettering a different color now I can't seem to find exactly what that is in order to duplicate it. Yes, I can always change all of the instances of that color but I like that one. Thank you

Default Color

Select a letter in the color you wish to duplicate. PRess Ctrl+D to open the Font dialogue, then click on the color button and in the ensuing dropdown, select More Colors at bottom. In this next dialogue, select the Custom tab, and a readout of RGB will be below the color graph.

In newer version of Word, once you have opened the Custom tab and clicked OK, the custom color will show up below the standard colors in the color dropdown until you close Word.

Best,
Ulodesk

OK cool; thanks a million. It's exactly what I wanted. BTW by ''newer version of Word'' I assume you mean 2013, since I have 2010 (And I consider 2010 new :-)

Where custom colours are involved, or you want to match font colours to logo colours then look into 'Color Cop' This is a tiny app that will sit on the screen from which you can sample any displayed colour and it will provide the values you need. It's one of the most useful tools I have available.

I suspect Ulodesk meant versions of Word issued in this Century. The Custom tab and more colors were not available in Word 97, they are available in Word 2003 and every version of Word since then. (I'm not sure about Word 2000 and 2002.) These controls are present in Word 2010.

Thanks, Charles. I couldn't remember if 2003 had this functionality.

I am not sure what you mean. Can you provide a photo with perhaps an arrow pointing to where you are referring to. I ask because I do not seem to see the same thing you do/say.

See screenshots from the Font dialog. This also works directly from the color-drop-down on the Home Tab.
