Word 2007 - Spelling check keeps reverting to English U.S.
In Word Options>Popular>Language Settings, I've set the Primary editing language to English U.K. But when I run Spelling and Grammar check it always uses English U.S.
When I create a new document or open an existing one, the status bar always says English U.K., but as soon as I open Spelling and Grammar check it reverts to English U.S. Does anyone know how force Spell Check in Word 2007 to use the language I want? The spelling language can be defined separately for each style so setting your defaults doesn't necessarily change the language of the content. In addition to the style settings, at a character level there may be local overrides to the language settings.
To change all styles and current content's language you would be best advised to use a macro. One such macro can be found in this thread... http://windowssecrets.com/forums/sho...ting-to-French

Guessed, thanks for that.
I tried the macro, but when I run it I get a compile error. If I click OK, then it shows the macro with some stuff highlighted, see pictures. Can you see what the problem is? I changed EnglishAUS in the original macro to EnglishUK but I'm not sure if that's correct.

The proofing language can differ for each character in a document. This can be set in styles but also can be carried into a document by copying some text from another document. It can feel like a virus!

The word 'spelling' should be deleted. You edited the original macro and added that line to it.

Sure enough. Not sure how Spelling got in there but I removed it and now the macro works as advertised.
Charles, that's an excellent tutorial. Started on it yesterday and will have to finish it when I get time. Thanks a million, you guys are awesome!
