Remove metadata in Microsoft Word
Hi All,
May I check if there is a way to remove all the metadata in a .docx Microsoft Word file except for the "Total Editing Time". Thank You! |

You can try the Document Inspector. Click File tab | Info | Check for Issues | Document Inspector. After you have run an inspection, you can choose what you want to remove.
Unfortunately, I don't think you can selectively keep the editing time.

I'm not sure why you'd want to keep the "Total Editing Time". It doesn't tell you anything about how long the documents was actually being worked on, only how long it has been open between saves. You could open a document, do 5mins editing today, and another 5mins tomorrow (without closing in between) and the total editing time could show as more than 24hrs... I have a 6-page document that consists on little more than content copied & pasted from a couple of websites. Because of how long it has been open between saves (as distinct from being edited), the total editing time shows as 932 minutes (15.5hrs). In any event, re-saving the file via Save As resets the value to 0.
