Exclamation Please Help___Repeating data in form letter

So I am not sure if I can do this, but in some syndicated letters at the top i say the address of the property, later in the email i type the address again, is there anyway to make the text in the body change automatically when i update the address at the top?

(former title "Please Help__Formatting?")

Bookmark the text and insert a cross reference. Do note however that bookmarks are easily overwritten. You might find it simpler in the long run to insert both addresses from a Userform - see http://www.gmayor.com/Userform.htm

So before i attempt this just want to make sure we are on same page. So I update the addresses based on what houses have expired (I'm in real estate) and i would like the body of the text where i mention the address again to automatically updating when i change the address at the top of the letter. Are we on the same page or is this not possible/simple

Yes and no
There is no automatic way of handling this for an existing document. You need to insert the bookmarks and the cross references initially and then the cross references will reflect what is in the bookmarks.

Had this not been for the Mac version of Word I would have suggested that you send me a copy of the document so that I could get a better handle on the document format to see if there is a better solution, but I don't have access to the Mac version.

If you are able to attach a version with personalisation removed to the forum (Go Advanced) other Mac users may be able to offer some alternative suggestions.

Thank you very much, i think it's probably just simpler to just copy the address from the top part of the document and paste it in again.

You could also look into the StyleRef Field. You could assign a custom character style to an address and have it appear elsewhere in the document. So long as that style is applied, what is typed there will be reflected in the StyleRef field elsewhere.

For more options, see Repeating Data (Populating Multiple Like Fields).

If you are going to this much trouble, your letters should be templates, rather than documents. Templates in Microsoft Word
