Maintaining Document Hyperlinks
I have an operations manual created in Word 2010 with other documents (Word, Excel, Visio and PDFs) hyperlinked to the manual. While this works fine, I have found that the hyperlinks constantly need to be reestablished after turning complete set of documents over to the business owners. I have seen another document system built in Word and converted to HTML that functions the same way. My objective is to put the entire documentation set on an Intranet server in HTML format thinking this would provide more stability to the hyperlinks while being able to update and revise the various documents. I would appreciate your comments or other solutions.

When you create a hyperlink between a Word document and another file, Word uses an absolute address for the link. To see how to implement relative paths, check out the solutions I've posted at:
http://windowssecrets.com/forums/sho...External-Files Note that, for documents with links to Excel Workbooks (and possibly Visio files too), you'll need the macro solution. Documents that don't contain LINK fields can use the field code solution.
