Default Spellchecker says all words are misspelled

In one sentence alone the following words have the red squiggly line under them that tells me they're misspelled:
  • what
  • hear
  • foreign
  • language
  • is
  • different
  • from
  • said
  • even
  • pronounced
  • it's
  • useless
  • for
  • repeat
  • someone
  • that
And these are the words without the squiggly red line under them:
  • or
  • in
  • a
  • so
  • me
  • to
  • in
  • English
Honest. I know how to spell these words. What's wrong with my spellchecker? (I did go into options and choose American English, along with whatever default it has. It didn't change a thing.)

At the risk of wanting to state the obvious, it appears as though your dictionary has lost some of the words in its list, and shows correctly spelled words as being wrong.
If everything else is working OK, then a re-install might be too harsh a fix, have you tried right clicking the words and adding them to your custom dictionary?

I kind of figured that. Obvious yes. Fix? That's the part I don't know. Reinstall what? (Please, please tell me I only have to reinstall the spellcheck list part, not the whole program. )

As for adding each word to the list, I started that too, but the average American has a vocabulary of 20,000-30,000 words. (Let's just skip the screwball words we don't use often, like, say..."screwball." lol) That's one heck of a lot of reprogramming. Also the assumption I spell all the words right before adding to the dictionary (or I'm stuck thinking "thier" is the right spelling from then on.) That's why I was hoping you'd say, "Gee, just click this link here and it installs all of spellcheck's words."

And, yes, I also dream the winning lottery ticket blows into my hand. Why not dream big, if I'm going to dream anyway.
