Default find function default is not saved

Hey everyone.
When I use the find function (ctrl + f), I want to use the option "find whole words only" (via the options menu) permanently, so I choose this option and click "set as default", but it is only good for one find. I have to repeat it for every search I make. Any ideas?

Are you using Word for Windows? I don't recall any version with a Set as Default button in the Find dialog box...

You can always post a screen shot showing what you see.

Sorry, but I've never seen the dialog box in your screen shot. On my system (most of) the options you mention are found directly in the Find dialog box.

How did you access the dialog? Is there a chance you installed (for example) a right-to-left language?

Also, which is the specific version of Word 2010 you are using? I have release 14.0.7116.5000 (32 bit), according to File tab | Help.

Note that I do see a Set as Default button if I access the Paragraph dialog box via Find (Format, Paragraph), but this is probably a bug (because the corresponding button is greyed out at Format, Font).

Stefan, the dialog is accessed from the Find tab on the Navigation Pane. Click on the drop-down and select Options...

Potolok, I note that the image you posted says that Activation failed. This will result in very limited functioning in Word.

Charles, thank you. I see that I must have typed something into the box (under "Navigation") and then I can click the arrow. I rarely use the Navigation pane; instead I press Ctrl+H to display the Find and Replace dialog box.
