Default How to deactivate File Save dialog box

Hi everyone,

We have an executable program developed in Visual Foxpro. In the program we can export the report output to a templated MS Word file. We run the program in Win7 and WinXP and running the MS Office 2007 version. There is no problem and the report is exported and generated in MS Word without any problem.

But when we install the .exe program in Windows 8 with an MS Office 2007 version (and later we use MS Office 2010), the program can still run EXCEPT that the report can not be exported in MS Word anymore as the File Save dialog box of MS Word automatically displays even if we did not activate it. The export of data to the MS Word file is then aborted and the report can not display.

How do we DEACTIVATE the automatic display of this File Save dialog box when running the program in Windows 8 and using either the 2007 or 2010 versions.

Thanks for the advice,

Kim

It is impossible to say without knowing what exactly the .exe is doing. I have no idea what is happening that would cause the FileSave dialog to display, but for sure it will not do so on its own. Further I have a hard time understanding why such a display would abort ANY import of text or data.

Hi fumei,

...have finally figured it out. Activated File ->Option->Trust Center->Trust Center Setting->File Block Setting and checked Save boxes for Word 2007 Template and Open Doc Text File and also checked Open Selected File Type.

With this setting the File Save dialog box still appears but no longer aborts the display of reports as exported in MS Word. Whether it's the right setting or otherwise it gets the result we finally wanted.

Good day!

Kim

For what it's worth, an alternative approach in the Word object model would be to check if a document is displayed in Protected view or not. Under the Application object, there is a ProtectedViewWindows collection (whose members are Window objects).
