Default Formatting Restrictions Pictures

Is it possible to set Restricting Formatting restrictions so that a user can still delete and replace an image.

I have looked in the limit formatting to a style but cant see a way to allow the document to be protected but allow an image to be changed.

Have you considered using a picture content control, combined with editing restrictions? Ideal if your users all use Word 2007 & later.

1. Go to Developer>Restrict Editing
2. Click the 'Editing Restrictions' checkbox
3. Select the content control
4. Click the 'Exceptions' checkbox
5. Click 'Yes, Start Enforcing Protection'
6. Add any passwords you require and click OK.

PS: You'll probably also want to set the content control's 'cannot be deleted' property.

Sorry for sounding stupid but I am stuck at point 4.

1. Go to Developer>Restrict Editing
2. Click the 'Editing Restrictions' checkbox
(I have editing restrictions set to 'filling in forms')

3. Select the content control
I select the picture content control
4. Click the 'Exceptions' checkbox
Cant see the 'exceptions' checkbox
5. Click 'Yes, Start Enforcing Protection'
6. Add any passwords you require and click OK.

That's what happens when you depart from the instructions given - I didn't suggest choosing the 'filling in forms' option. The instructions were predicated on you leaving Word at the default option, which is 'No changes (read only)'.

Hi,

Unfortunatley my editing restrictions was set to 'filling in forms' as I have a table below the image that I want to protect users from changing certain text.

As mentioned in my initial post I am looking for a way to allow the document to be protected but allow an image to be changed.

When I start enforcing protection all the document is locked.

I have enclosed a basic example where I want users to be able to change the image and only enter details on the r/h section of the table.

The l/h side of the document text should be locked.

Thanks

The problem with your document is that you're using formfields - which require the 'filling in forms' protections - whereas, had you used content controls throughout, you could use just the 'No changes (read only)' protection, with each content control (or even the table cells without the need for content controls) set as an exception. FWIW, formfields are not meant to be used in conjunction with content controls, as they simply don't work well together.
