Default accept only new page numbers and cross references in review mode

This is driving me crazy. When I edit a large document and wind up changing the page numbers and cross references, they ALL show up as changes, do I really have to go to each number and accept the change?

I won't do a global accept all changes, because I want the edits I did, the text changes to stay marked, but not all the page and cross reference changes!

Any ideas?

Try running the following macro:
Code:
Sub AcceptTrackedFields()
'This sub accepts any tracked changes affecting fields
Dim Story As Range, oFld As Field, oRev As Revision, Rng As Range
With ActiveDocument
  ' Loop through all range objects and accept tracked changes on fields
  For Each Story In .StoryRanges
    For Each oRev In Story.Revisions
      For Each oFld In oRev.Range.Fields
        oFld.ShowCodes = True
        Set Rng = oFld.Code
        With Rng
          .MoveEndUntil cset:=Chr(21), Count:=wdForward
          .MoveEndUntil cset:=Chr(19), Count:=wdBackward
          .End = .End + 1
          .Start = .Start - 1
          oFld.ShowCodes = False
          .Revisions.AcceptAll
        End With
      Next
    Next
  Next
End With
Set Rng = Nothing
End Sub

I suspect that a lot of people have this question. I've added a link to this thread in my pages on Complex Documents and Track Changes.

Default The macro appears to work..

Except when I insert a new table and give it an automatically numbered caption, the new caption numbers are tracked, and they weren't automatically accepted by the macro. Is there some way to include the caption numbers so they also automatically get accepted.

What I'm trying to do is preserve the textual changes, while accepting the automatic renumbering. IN a large document, the cross references, caption numbering and page numbering can become insane, manually accepting hundreds of numbering changes is mind-numbing.

Thanks,
George

In my testing of the macro, the tracked caption field updates are accepted. The rest of the caption is left alone, as it's not part of a field. Also, the macro doesn't run automatically - you have to run it as required.

Default doesn't accept all tracked field changes

Well,
Maybe I'm running it wrong (click View Macros, select and run, right??)
or maybe it doesn't work on my machine, don't know, but thanks for your help!

Something I 've noted, if I copy and paste the Table: field (dynamic number) into the body of the document, and run the macro, it works, and the field in the caption in updated.
As long as the field is only in the caption, it never updates...

I am unable to replicate that behaviour. Can you attach a document to a post with some representative tracked data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab.
