How to update heading numbers?
I have three heading styles. They are numbered:
1 heading 1 1.1 Heading 2 1.1.1 Heading 3 Suddenly, any new headings I add are not numbered. Is there a way to update the heading numbers similar to "update field"? |

Did you change the heading style? The default style is not numbered.

You need to attach numbering to styles following all of the steps at:

Thank you for all the information.
But it turns out that my problem was caused by something else. I have a table in the report. The table is generated by a Velocity Template Language template. In the table, there is a cell that has multiple entries. The cell used a bullet list. The list had three entries. This is why three numbers were inserted, causing the TOC to skip from 2 to 5. When I removed the bullet list format the numbering was corrected. |

Thank you for the update. One more item in things to ask about, I guess.
