Default Issues with Total # of Pages

I have a document that has a title page, and a table of contents (takes up a total of 3 pages) then the actual document begins. In the footer I want "page x of y". I want to know how to not include the first few pages in the "y". For example if the entire document (including the title page and TOC) is 9 pages, the first actual page should have page 1 of 6.
Also this document will have section breaks so that certain pages can be landscape (because of pictures/diagrams that need to be inserted).
Please help!!!

By the way I am using Windows XP with Office 2003

Section breaks will allow you to restart the numbering for each section

Add the numbering then choose the 'Format Page Number' icon (Headers and Footers - the one with the little hand) - here you can start from scratch, or continue from previous.
