Default Word file lost! Only opens old saved file, template

I saved a word file at about 8pm last night, I tried to open it today, it asked a question (something about template), I just clicked yes, and now it opens an old version (5pm) file of the document. Please help!!

Your description suggests you may not have saved & closed the edited file and, when you went to open it this morning, it was already opened and you told Word to revert to the previously-saved edition. In that case, all your 5pm-8pm edits are gone.
