Default Italian Spell and Grammar check doesn't work

Dear community, i'm running office enterprise 2007 on a win 7 64bit pc. My issue is that the spell and grammar function does work for English and German, but not for italian. So long i've tried:
- uninstall and reinstall same version
- uninstall one version and install a different one

- rename the HKEY etc. file
- checked all settings in the word options

Has anybody an idea what's wrong?

Moreover in english and german the misspelled words are underlined, in italian not. If I hit the "spelling & grammar" botton on an italian text, a pop up messege says "there is not enough memory or disk to perform the check" (or sth similar). If I hit the botton on a different language, it alerts me that the feature is not installed, but after clicking "Ok" he does the check right away!

Plese help me

Hi fionnymy,

Do you have the Office 2007 language pack for Italian installed?

Hi macropod,
I think I have it, but at this point im not sure anymore. I've office installed on my D:/ driver so the path start>office>office tools doesn't work for me. How do I go there manually so I can check if I have the Italian Language pack installed?

You can find where the tools are stored via Word Options|Advanced>File Locations.

No sorry, I'm too dummy to find it. Which options|advanced do you mean? And what do I have to look for exactly? "language pack it-it" or "tools"?

As in, using Word, click on the Office button, then Options, then Advanced, then scroll down to File Locations and click on that. One of the locations listed in the pop-up will be for 'Tools'.

Ok, found it. It says it is in Office12. In this folder I have a lot of files...one is for the language settings and there I can see the Italian language is organized as the other two. But the spell check and the grammar check doesn't work on documents.

See the 'Word' entry at: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ac...010248871.aspx. Is 'Italian' listed with a tick against it? If not, that suggests a problem with the language pack installation and you may need to unininstall/reinstall it.

Oook, I got it. In Word u find the language settings in the review panel above. In the "set language" menu, i've go Italian (Italy) with a check in front of it, exactly as German and English.

Everything seems regular, but the spell and grammar check still is NOT working in Italian.

Hi fionnymy,

So, is the Italian language listed at the top of the "Set Language" menu as one of the proofing languages? If not, double-clicking on it should move it there.

In that case, You might try uninstalling/reinstalling the Office 2007 language pack. You do this via 'Programs and Features' in the Windows Control Panel.

Hi fionnymy,

None of you previous posts indicate that you had tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Office language pack. In fact, in post #3 you indicated you didn't even know if it was installed. Only in the last few posts has that been established.

hi macropod,
thank you very much for your patience. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the language pack and the office 2007 itself, but it didn't solve my problem with the Italian grammar and spell check. Do you have any other idea what it might be?
