Default Custom colours in Word template

Hi all,

I'm building a Word template and can't for the life of remember how to save the custom colour (or color for those of you outside the UK!) palettes so when the template is distributed all users will be able to see the custom palette.

I remember doing this in Word 2003 but can't figure it out in 2010...

Any guidance mot appreciated!

Hi
Try this response from one of our Word MVPs, Paul Edstein:

You can use a macro like:
Sub MyPantone()
Selection.Font.Color = 7814912
End Sub
and assign it to a keyboard shortcut.
Cheers

Hi there & thanks for that. I'm not sure that will work for what I need in this instance.

The template will be sent out to a number of users and they will expect not to have any additional keyboard shortcuts or anything of that nature.

From what I remember from Word 2003, there was a way to include custom palettes so any user opening the document would have access to them. I know the palettes are by default stored on the users pc (or my pc in this instance as I'm building the template) but they are not saved as part of the template (by default)

I remember there was an organiser where you could select the inbuilt styles so they would be saved as part of the template. It's quite a while ago so I may be incorrect in this assumption!

Hi
You are correct this feature is available in Office 2003.
If you are using a template then is there any reason why you cannot send them the "template" as a template? Then the changes will remain in the document.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards
Tony

Hi Tony, I will be sending the template but custom colour palettes are not included as part of the template.

It doesn't look like its possible to embed palettes so I might just add some additional styles for headings in various colours etc - might save time in the long run!

Many thanks for your help!

Just to re-visit this, if anyone else is trying to create a custom toolbar colour palette, the suggestion above works extremely well.

I set it up differently than the above (I just recorded a macro for each custom colour so I didn't need to code anything) and it's ideal.

Thanks!
