Hyperlink goes to wrong position
Hi, I have created a (selfmade) TOC in a Word2010 document. Bookmarks in the document and fieldcodes in the TOC controls the pagenumbers shown in the TOC. Works fine. Now I want the entries in the TOC (f.i. "Introduction to chapter 4") to be hyperlinks, that can bring the reader to - and preferably also back from (how?) - the different chapters. Now, I have read all the Microsoft instructions on how to create and edit hyperlinks, I have followed them, and STILL - the hyperlinks I make go to some remote place in my system and opens up an old template, that has nothing to do with my document. Canīt find any explanations why!

I don't know what instructions you're referring to, but Insert|Hyperlink>Place in this Document>Bookmarks>Bookmark name>OK should be pretty simple to use.

I do exactly that. But when I open the hyperlink, I am not brought to the bookmark I chose, but to this template I mentioned. Itīs an old Word template I made as an experiment and later left unused in the folder, where Word keeps those kind of things. So to me it makes no sense at all. There is not even a similarity between the bookmarkīs name and the templateīs name.
Maybe I should mention, that the field codes are only on the pagenumbers in the right side of the TOC. The text entries on each line have no codings, and thatīs where Iīd like the hyperlinks to be. |

OK, maybe someone set Word's hyperlink base for the document at some stage, and that's upsetting things. See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903163

Hyperlink goes to wrong position
Hi Paul
That was a very useful answer! I think what happened was this: I made a template some time ago, then built some docīs on this, saving them as docx-files. Apparently the documents still have the name and the path of this template in the title-field in the "Advanced properties" menubox. As you can see in the attached file, I have now inserted the title of the actual document in the field where until now the title of the template was showing. Whereas I have not yet changed the path in the field at the buttom. I presume that what I must do is write the complete path of the document into this field, and that will direct the hyperlinks to the document itself instead of to the templateīs folder as it was before. Correct? The document is a book layout, and the hyperlinks must of course be preserved, when I convert to PDF. But I guess thatīs not a problem. Thank for the advice! |

That looks like it. Simply clear that field and the problem should be solved.

Thanks for the tip. The hyperlinks work perfectly now!
