Default Page 2 Section Header not same as Page 1 Same Section

Hi,

I'll try to explain this best I can!

I have created a document with multiple pages and sections.

Am now up to Section 7 (typing document as I go), Section 7 has 2 pages, 2nd page has used the Header from Section 1.

As a coincidence, Section 1 and Section 7 are the only sections with multiple pages, all other sections are a single page.

Link to Previous is turned off.

Any ideas??? I can easily fix by typing over the section/chapter name (only thing to change) but this isn't really the point of a header!

Thanks!

In a copy of your document...
Go into the header on Page 1 of Section 7 (which I assume is what you want on Page 2) and copy the contents.
Move to the header currently on page 2, select it all and paste in your copy. Click off the option for different first page.

Why 7 sections? You do NOT usually need section breaks to change header/footer content to reflect the contents under the header. You would use a StyleRef field for that. See Sections / Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word 2007-2010.

Thanks.

7 Sections and counting as I thought this was the only way to create different headers (or have chapter names at the top of the page).

The StyleRef field sounds like what I need to use, but I don't really understand how to use it. I just want the name of the first heading on the page to be what the chapter is called in the Header.

In a copy of your document.

Assuming you are using Heading 1 as the style for your chapter headings...

In your page 2 header of Section 1
Insert > Quick Parts > Field > StyleRef
Pick your Heading 1 style

Delete your section breaks and see what happens.
