Default Embedding PDFs in MS Word 2010

I am not able to embed a PDF in MS Word 2010 as an object. When I try to I get the attached message. I have tried both Adobe Reader X and 9 and get it with both. For X the internet suggestion is to disable security setting on startup which I have also done and it did not fix it. Does anyone have any other ideas. I am able to embed as objects other Word and Excel docs., etc. only issue with PDFs.

thank you for your help.

There's probably a flaw somewhere in your Adobe installation. You might try uninstalling, then reinstalling it.
