Can't get rid of lines.
Hi. I am typing a document on word. Sometimes when I start a new chapter I make a line across the page using the underline key. However, if I then press the return key the line turns into a blacker line and I can't get rid of it. Several of those lines are now in my document, sometimes I don't know how they got there. I've tried deleting them manually, and I've tried using the "borders and shading" tool to get rid of them. Nothing works. Help.

Hi gfswolf,
You can prevent it by pressing 'undo' immediately Word converts your typed line. You can remedy it by setting all of the potentially affected paragraphs' borders to 'none'.

Dear Macropod:
Thanks for your help. I have tried going to "borders and shading" and clicking "none" and deleting the bottom border. It doesn't work. Anything else I can do?" |

Hi gfswolf,
Can you attach a document showing the problem?

Hi gfswolf,
It is as I said - you have bottom borders set for five paragraphs on the second page. To delete them, select all of those paragraphs and set their border style to 'no border'.
