Question How to use autofill text form fields in a protected document

I have prepared a long template document with a user form at opening that autopopulates the document with the info inserted into the form (using bookmarks and text form fields). I would like the document to be protected using 'restrict editing' but every time I try and use the form it comes up with an error message saying I am not allowed to edit a section because it is protected.

Is it possible to restrict editing but still allow info to be inserted into the text form fields, or alternatively is there a macro or something that would allow me to turn off restrict editing, insert the info, and then re-apply restrict editing?

Not sure if I've described the issue perfectly, so let me know if so and I'll do my best to explain better. Any help would be appreciated - thanks!
