Default Can't Edit Old Macros

I'm having trouble editing old macros that I transferred from Word 2003 to Word 2013. I transferred the old macros by renaming and then moving the old Normal.dot file to the Startup folder in Word 2013.

When I try to access one of those older macros, (which are now available by clicking the ADD IN section of the desktop) I receive a message: "Project Locked" and "Project Unviewable." The same thing happens if I try to "step in" to the macro using the macro icon under the View section: acces to the macro code is denied.

I would also like to add new macros to this section.

How do I edit these older macros and add new ones? I hope I don't have to go back to Word 2003.

Thank you.

That suggests someone has password-protected the code modules.

Thank you for your reply.

I did not request password protection. How can I find out if that is the problem? If that is the case, how do I remove that barrier?

Thank you.

If they have been password protected, you would need to supply the correct password at the password prompt that appears when you try to access the code through the VBE, which you can access via Alt-F11.

Word does not prompt me for a password. What should I do?

If you care to attach the problem template to a post (zip it first), I'll take a look at it for and see what I can discern.

This is normal behaviour - Macros loaded in an Add-in cannot be edited or viewed in the VBA Editor be default.

If you do want to view or edit that code you need to OPEN the template rather than just load it as an addin. You don't need to disable the addin first.
