Sequential numbering within Word
Okay, this is my first posting. We do a lot of shipping and our larger customers require us to print a half page with the shipping address, box number, etc. and put it on each box. The easy part is putting the same information on each page. The hard part and what is taking us a lot of time is that when we ship 344 boxes, each box has to have the same information on it but show that it is for instance Box 66 of 344. Subsequently the next box has the same information it but has Box 67 of 344, etc. So what we are currently doing is manually putting in box 67 of 344. Then going to next page and putting in Box 68, then the next page and putting in 69, etc. My thought is that there probably is a way for it to automatically number the successive sheets and put in the next box number for us instead of manually doing this? I would guess that we could set up a template or something with the customer name, address, etc and then below it have Box xxx of 344 and it would automatically fill in the xxx with correct box number and then the next sheet would put in the next higher number?
Any help would be appreciated. My office person is doing a lot of manual work that I assume could be done quickly and much easier, but maybe it is just wishful thinking. Thanks |
