Default How to use the icons for macros included in Word programmatically

Hi,

if you use Word options/adjust/macros, you can give a macro an icon from an icon set which is included in Word.
My question:
How can you use these icons programmatically, or how can you have access to the icons?

Regards-
Dietrich

To do this you need to work out where the icon is actually going to be displayed. I assume you are putting it into either the QAT, Ribbon or Backstage. In all these cases, you need to edit the ribbonx xml file by using a third party tool many of which are mentioned in this thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...f-8a8aa98e33c6

I use the Office Ribbon Editor from Leaf Creations which you will find gets a mention in that thread.

You also want to find and download the full list of Office Icons so you know the name of every icon. I think this is the link for that http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/downl....aspx?id=21103

Thank you for the answer!
I tried the second link, but you must buy a software to get the backstage data...
Besides I need it for Word 2007.
Isn't there a simplier way?
regards
Dietrich

See http://gregmaxey.com/word_tip_pages/...bbon_main.html for everything you need to know about editing the Word ribbon.

Hi, gmayor,
thanks for the link. I will try this.
But my concern is: in former times we had some dll with icons in it and we could access them with code. I thought that this could be possible with the icons of Word 2007 too...
Greetings-
Dietrich

You could do that in Word veresions up to and including 2003. In 2007 and later you can use any icon, but you must either call a built-in icon by name or use a graphic file. There is a handful of icon graphics available for QAT editing in 2007, but that list is fixed.

"...but that list is fixed..."
How can I find that list or the names of the icons and is it possible to read icons from this list, when yes - how with VBA?
