Edit button grayed out in macros dialog box (word 2013)
I've upgraded to Office 2013 and brought macros originally developed in Word 2000 and 2003 to Word 2013. The macros were not added to normal.dotm but instead put into a file named wordmacros.dotm and placed in the "startup" folder on the local machine. The macros appear in the macro list and work as written, but I can't edit any of them. The "Edit" button is grayed out in the "Macros" dialog box. Alt+F11 brings up the VBA editor but when I click on the Wordmacros project, I get a "Project is Unviewable" message in a text box labeled "Project Locked". I have not locked the project. This problem happens with different macro templates on different machines on unrelated networks. I've spent a couple of hours searching the web and have found others having the same problem, but no answers. The .dotm files are not hidden or set to read only. Can anyone help? |

Apparently, a software team at MS thought the old way of editing a macro (you know, click the edit button) was just too easy. Now if you want to edit a macro in a DOTM file located in the "startup" directory, you must explicitly open the DOTM file through the standard open file process (and drilling down though several directories). BRILLIANT! A much better method than clicking "edit".
To anyone from Microsoft that might be reading this. It's generally a bad idea to produce products that result in your pesky customers swearing at your company on a daily basis...and believe me, I'm not alone. |

diesel94: We have a Word forum for Word questions - and even a Word-VBA forum for Word VBA questions. So why did you scroll past those and post into the Office forum where there is a notice staring at you telling you not to do so? If you want help, the least you might do is pay attention and post in the correct forum.
If this is an example of how much notice you take of how things work in Word, it's little wonder you have no idea how to edit macros in dotm files. That process is in Office 2013 no different than it is in any previous version. As for : Quote:
