Default Numbering Receipt Books

I am trying to print receipt books which have to be numbered. I'm using M.S.Pub for the template, which is: An A4 portrait divided in 4 (A7). There are 40 pages to each book. Top left 1-40,top right 41-80, bottom left 81-120, bottom right 120-160. Once these books are printed I need to do the next sequence 161 etc.etc. In M.S.Pub I can only number the pages once so I have to do 4 print runs to complete.

Is it possible in Word, Excel, or other programs to be able to set this up for 1 print run?
Hoping someone can help

Word can certainly do this kind of thing, using SEQ fields or a combination of PAGE fields and forumula fields. All you'd need to do for each series is to change the starting #.

Thank you for your reply. I have already tried playing around with seq. & fields in 'Word' and all I finish up with is a page with 4 boxes and the numbers 1,41,81 & 121 in them.I have tried mail merge with 'Excel' but can only get one sheet to appear. When I try to merge 41-80 1-40 disappears.
I guess I'll just keep on trying.
Once again Thanks

How many pages did your Word document have?

Can you attach a document to a post showing the setup you're using? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab.

Find attached the top page of 40. You will see the numbers. the idea is for all 40 pages to be numbered sequentially. Once they are printed the numbers will need to updated for the 4 books i.e 161 etc.

All you've attached is a picture, not a document. I can't advise on the changes you need to make to the document from a picture that contains none of the document content (eg SEQ fields).

This is where I have to admit that I'm a novice at this business. I don't really understand what you mean regarding the 'document'. Everything that I've been trying has gone. If I'd saved it all I'd have filled a disk. Would it be possible to set up the numbers without the mailmerge which would mean I could do 2 print runs, first with the numbers, second with the Pub. template.
By the way the Progs. I'm using are XP Pro and M.S.Office 2007.

Once again thanks for helping

OK, you have posted a picture. Presumably that's from a screen-capture or something such from the application in which you created your receipts. What is the file you created them in?

I also don't understand why mailmerge is involved. Your first post didn't mention it and I see no necessary reason for involving it.

My email says that you posted about 11.40 my time but nothing appeared on the 'Forum' page. I've attached the 'doc' again but this time I've incl. nos. in the first book by using Pub. numbering pages.
Hope this one works

Still no attachment. Use the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' page.

P.S. I've used the paper clip on the 'reply to thread' as I can't find the 'Go Advanced 'page

I've just realised that the 'doc' might be a touch big so I've reduced to 4 pages (under 500kb.)
Here's hoping
