Autosum in Word
Hi, sorry for my newbie question, but is it possible to autosum in word when some of the fields sometimes may be text and not numbers?
For examples: --------------------------------- Apples: 10 Bananas: 4 Orange: coming soon Kiwi: 6 Total: 20 (autosum) --------------------------------- I would prefer if it was not in Table, but if it must, it could. |

Insert the following field in the total cell:
{ =B1+B2+B3+B4 } Note the field will not auto-update if you change a value. The field will have to be in the table to work, but there is nothing to stop you formatting the table without borders so it appears that it is not in the table. If you want it out of the table then you would need to bookmark the cells and total the bookmark values.

Thanx a lot!
That helped me alot. I had just used "above" instead of B1+B2... And nice tip about auoupdate not live. Look like I have to right click and the "update field" So im guessing there is no way to active a Live Autosum in Word? |

You could perhaps make the table in Excel and link it to Word
or add the example code from http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm to a button on the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar) or ribbon and click it when you want an update.
