Default Does anyone know how to remove breaks between tables?

I created a member directory with a MS Word business card template but breaks between tables appear and I can not figure out how to remove them. I suppose these unwanted breaks appear because I have inserted and removed rows as members come and go. The extra space on appears on a few pages so it's nothing to do with margins. I think someone in the past was able to remove it but I don't know if I can find her now. This problem makes me wonder if I should be looking for some Linux freeware into which I could import the document that would be better for desktop publishing. I will have to send the file to a print shop for printing. Here is an image of last year's directory.

If it's a table, you should be able to just delete the rows, using the standard table tools.

Linux won't help - it's an operating system, not a word-processor - and, even if you were to switch over to that and install a different word-processor, you'd be no closer to solving the problem.

Default Here is a sample file that shows the kind of break I want to remove.

I do know how to insert and delete rows but after I inserted and deleted rows to keep the member directory updated, 3 unwanted breaks appeared either at the top or bottom of pages. Here is a sample file that shows the kind of break I want to remove. The actual file has about 32 pages. The table should be 2 column by 6 rows as it is on the second page of the sample file. I brought up Linux because I use a Linux distro called Kubuntu and I was hoping there might be a nice layout program for Linux.

For any row you want to delete, simply click anywhere in that row. Then, using the Layout tab of the Table Tools context ribbon, use the Delete function to delete the row.

I want to remove a break between tables which one can see in the file that I attached to this thread. I think if no one can answer this question, I should just try Scribus.

There is no 'break between tables' to be deleted from your attachment. It contains only one table. You can see that for yourself by using the Table Tools>Layout>Select>Table. Your sole entire table will be selected. Perhaps, if you haven't done so already, you should click on the 'view gridlines' button on that tab.

Chris -

The table menu is context sensitive. It only appears when your cursor is in the table. Just click one of the cells and it should appear.

Your image isn't showing the table tools context tab because you don't have a table selected...

As for the gap at the bottom of the page, that has nothing to do with a break between tables but everything to do with the fact there is insufficient space for another row to fit on that page between the last row and the bottom margin. You can fix that by changing the top/bottom page margins and/or the table row height.

Chris - I hope you are working with a copy, not the ONLY copy of your file.
Murphy has a nasty habit of showing up when you least want him to.

Assuming you turned on the grid lines so that you can see the individual cells just follow what macropod instructed you:

Quote:
For any row you want to delete, simply click anywhere in that row. Then, using the Layout tab of the Table Tools context ribbon, use the Delete function to delete the row.
See attached screen shot.

If that isn't what you need can you post a copy of the document you are working on. It may be that we are talking apples and oranges. Be sure to delete any sensitive information.

In the file I that I attached to the thread, you can see the unwanted space that only appears on the first page. I copied the seeming defective table from my original which had a table with about 200 rows and 3 unwanted spaces and deleted all of the content. I also made a screen shot for your reference.

Ahhhh... as i said - Apples and oranges.

Your table is only filling part of the page. That "space" is the remainder of the document page. There isn't any way to "get rid of it".
The reason you don't see another row of the table there is because the current height of your rows won't allow one to fit there. So the next row goes to the second page.

The only way I know for you to utilize that portion of the page would be to adjust the height of the rows so that the table fits better on the page. Larger row height would fill the page better - Smaller row height would allow more rows on the page. That would be done by selecting the whole table and clicking the properties button for the table. (top left under the View Gridlines on the Table Tools - Layout Ribbon)

That would be the other option!

Glad that worked.
