If all I ever did was print the document your answer would be correct however we are more and more displaying the document on screen and having the look on screen critiqued.

Unfortunately this problem carries on to 2013;
It's not styles, it's not fonts, it's not formatting.

Yes it's a display problem that occurs across multiple monitors and resolutions and is a difficult issue in an on line presentation.

The fact you might not print the affected documents doesn't invalidate my previous response.

Since you're describing a display problem, I'd suggest checking with the graphics card maker for an updated display driver.

I've been OS for 3½ months, hence the delay in replying. If you care to attach a document to a post with a copy of the problem table, I'll take a look at it for you.

I should have also said multiple computers all with differing graphics cards.

Given that it has happened across 6 computers: 1 Desktop with On-Board Graphics, 3 Different Dells (Different Motherboards and Different On-Board graphics cards) , 1 Apple with XP, 1 home desktop computer with non on board graphics card the issue would appear to be Word related.

Given that on all these computers the same issue occurs and only at the bottom of a page, some with footers some without, then finding and fixing it may be fun but would actually require MS to look.

Except in the case of Table Styles and/or other formatting applied only to the last row of a table, I've never encountered such behaviour. Indeed, if the phenomenon affects a wide range of hardware, that strongly suggests the last row is in fact formatted differently. Try selecting the last two table rows and pressing Ctrl-Spacebar. That will remove any character formatting that is not part of the Style definitions for the text concerned. Beyond that, you might need to check that the paragraph Styles & formats are the same. This can be an issue where tables have been combined from different sources and/or have had content pasted into them in different Styles - even if the content is later updated.
