Question Shading in Cells in Word Tables

I have a 5 column, 10 row table. I typed text into the cells and then decided I wanted the top row of cell shaded. For some reason when I added the shading, the cells in column 3 and 4 appears "split" - the area which has the typing is shaded but the area underneath the typing is white. Have no idea how to fix.

Help!

It sounds like you may have hilited the text instead of shading the cells. Use the Borders and Shading menu to fill the cell(s).
