Long, 3 Column Table - Can I make Fit Into Page Columns?
I have a long, 3 column table with data that I want to fit on one page, but still be able to adjust, sort, manipulate the data. I didn't know if there was a way to set the page for 2 columns and when the table reaches the bottom of the first page column, it would continue at the top of the second page column.
I know I can split the table and post them as two tables, side-by-side, but that doesn't allow full table sorting. Any way to accomplish what I am hoping to do? Thanks! |

If I migrate the document to an Excel spreadsheet, is there a way to do it? For example the 3 columns of data would continue, for say 10 rows, then continue at the top of two columns over (lined up with the beginning of the first 3 columns).

If you format the page with a multi-column layout, the table will snake around the columns in the same way text would. other than that, the table's functionality remains unchanged.

Thanks for the reply!
Ok, I tried that before posting, but the table ignores the columns and "floats" over any location I put it on the page, including the gutter between columns. It isn't affected by the columns and continues on to the next page without snaking. (I tried that before posting and then posted when I couldn't get it to work. ) |

I have tried what macropod suggested, and it works perfectly. May be you should upload your document so that we can understand why it is not happening in your document.

Here is the document. It is the last Pottery Code list that I am trying to snake. I have also started the process of migrating the document to Excel, hoping I can figure out how to do it there if it fails in Word.
Thanks! |

It doesn't work with your table because its text-wrapping format is set to 'around'. That makes the table layout independent of whatever else is going on on the page concerned. It will work if you change the text wrapping to 'none'.

How do I go about changing that? My text-wrapping button is ghosted when I select the table and when I deselect the table.

Click on the table, then choose Table Tools > Layout > Properties > Text Wrapping > None.
