Default Export list of end tasks only

Hey all
Forgive my noobness. I have only recently started using MSP.
I want to export a list of all outdated tasks. I have already set the filters to show that list, but it includes all task headers. Is there a way of only selecting the lowest level tasks. As in, with a WBS, I want to copy the task associated with 1.2.3.4 and not include the task headers of 1.2.3 , 1.2 and 1.
I hope I make sense.
Thanks

Alan

Hi Alan
When you export tasks from Project you will always take the Summary Task with your lower level tasks. You cannot just extract low level tasks. However, what you can do in your export map is to include the field called "Outline Level". Then when in Excel you can filter on the lowest level you want to view in Excel using that field as a filter.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

Thanks, but unfortunately that won't work. At the moment there is no structure to the plans and some go down different levels (e.g. in one section the actual task is level 4 and in another it is 8). So I can't filter that way

Maybe there is an easier way that I don't know. I basically got to give a summary of the amount of tasks that are outdated (finish date is in the past and don't have 100% complete). I can't say there are 400 lines outdated when half of them are the upper levels and not the actual task. Do you know of a way to do that easily?..... in these badly constructed plans :P

Hi
Thanks for providing further information on what you need. Basically you can do what you need in MS Project very easily. Simply add an extra field called status to your view. You can then filter on those tasks that are marked as "Late". However don't forget to make sure that you change the Project Status Date to the date you run your report. If you don't update the Project Status date you will not get up-to-date information.
If you need further help then come back to the forum with more information.
Good luck.
