Default Report sorting dates seems strange

Thanks to Julie, the ToDo-list gentleman in my company is now closer than ever to be able to print his beloved lists...

The final touch to make him jumping up and down of joy would be to sort the list on start date.
Thought this would be extremly easy since there is a single sort setting in the report view but when applied it just scrambles the dates as shown in attached images.

Are there any other factors calculated into this sorting setting that I am unaware of?

The report tool in general feels abit like the bastard of the application... In some need of TLC from the developers at the supplier.

I'm guessing you are using 2016? Are you up to date on all public updates? Can you give me more information about your report setup? I know it's a table report what fields?

2016 yes
Updates - Build 7668.2066

You are correct its a table with:
Other fields / Project
Task name
Date / Start
Date / Stop
Resources
Work / Real work
Duration / Duration
Numbers / Procent complete

I am sorry if the names above are off, but its a free translation from field names in Swedish... Hope Im not sending you off into field hell.

I'm not sure what is going on . I made a simple report as you describe and sort by Start date - it works without issue. I do have my date format just showing the numeric, but when I switch the date format to show Day of the week - it still works as expected.

Do you have maintain hierarchy enabled? Why are you showing project? Is this a consolidated project? If so, I am not sure it will sort outside of a single project. In other words - I'm not sure it will intermingle tasks between multiple projects.

You are once again guessing correct in the fact that I am working within a Master project, could be this that creates the headache. That is also why I show the project field.

I will have to do some more testing when I have the time and get back with more info

You may get what you need by removing the links to the inserted files. It will then count each task as part of a larger project. But with master projects and linked project files, I don't know of a way to get them to sort outside of the project.

Or at the very least, tell him to look at it by project
