customized settings at startup
I have a project file that can be updated by several people.
Sometimes, by accident, people change time scale, hide columns or toolbars in the Gantt Chart view. I have an auto_open commend in Visual basic were some of these parameters are set to customized settings, however there are too many parameters that need to be set to default view. Is there a way to save or record (in VB) the default settings in one go and put them in the auto-save sub ? thanx roland |

You don't mention which version of Project you are using. In Project 2010 you can use the "reset" command to return a view back to its 'factory installed' settings.
I would likely just make a custom view for each user so they can have it set as they need it - which columns and so forth. Then keep a view (not shown in the menu) that people are directed to leave alone. Many of us have a "printing view" where everything is set (tables, time scale, gantt formatting) that we use solely for printing. None of these settings have any influence on toolbars, by the way. That is a program - not file setting. I hope this helps. Julie |

thanks Julie, this is just what I need
A custom view when the shared file is opened, with colums to show, ... But, do I need to program this all manual (in VB?) or can I make my view and save this view in the Project file to show when opening , |

Project will open in the view it was last saved in. No need for VB or VBA. Add the views in the project file to the menu and then show people how to easily switch views using the shortcut menu.
I think a bit of training of the users will handle most all of the issues :-) |
