I previously used PPT 2004 but now have PPT 2011 for MAC.



I can't find the "color picker" eye dropper in the fill menu that I am accustom to using.

Can someone direct me to where to find it?

Has MS eliminated it in recent versions?

If so, is there a "color picker" eye dropper plug-in available that I can get.

I've been searching on the Internet for an answer but can't find one.

Can someone help here?

1. Right click on the Ribbon and select the Customize Quick Access Toolbar
2. Choose Commands from drop down menu
3. Select All Commands and scroll down to Pick Up Style then Add and hit OK
4. Right click on the Ribbon and select Show Quick Access Toolbar Above the Ribbon...
...It will always remain in your customised toolbar.

Hey thanks! I'm using MAC, so the process was slightly different, but with the info you gave me I was able to figure it out.

I couldn't find info on this anywhere else I looked, so this was great.

From the "View" drop down menu select "Customize Toolbars and Menus"... in the window that opens select "Tool Bars and Menus" and below check the toolbar you want the 2 eyedroppers to reside on (I checked "Formatting") ... now go back to the top of this window and click "Commands" ... there are 2 eyedropper tools you will need ... scroll down to "Pick Up Object Style" and select it ... now click and drag it to the Formatting Toolbar (I placed mine to the right of the tools already there) ... next go back to the list below and scroll to "Apply Object Style" and select it and drag it to the Formatting Toolbar and place it next to the "Pick Up Object Style" tool (I place it to the right of the Pick Up tool) ...

Now that you have the 2 new tools in the Formatting Toolbar, it is a 4 step process. For example, to copy the color of one rectangle and place that color into another rectangle: (1) click on the "Pick Up Object Style" tool and (2) then click the rectangle whose color you want to copy. (3) Now click the "Apply Object Style" tool and (4) then click the other rectangle which you want to have the same color as the first. That's it!

To sample a colour from any image or graphic (or anything on your screen), like the eyedropper did previously in PowerPoint (and despite some forums stating that there never was an eyedropper), you now have to:

- Select 'more colours' from any of the fill menus

- Select the magnifying glass

- When you click with the magnifying glass over any image or graphic it will drop the colour below it, just like an eyedropper, into any graphic etc that has been selected.

One more step to find it, and telepathy required to recognise that a magnifying glass icon now replaces an eyedropper.
If it wasn't broken, why fix it?
If anyone can give me a good reason why the eyedropper has exited for this, I'd like to hear it.

But if there's a will, there's a way (usually despite, not because of the updates). Enjoy the mystery that is MSO.

Thanks for this, but I don't see a magnifying glass in the more colors option. Where did they hide this?

Also, it appears the actual button "Pick Up Object Style" doesn't do anything?!?

Windows versions of PowerPoint (before 2013 preview) don't have an eyedropper to pick up RGB values. The eyedropper mentioned copies the fill line etc and can apply it to another shape but it doesn't easily tell you the RGB of the fill.

There's are free tools which will do this though
Pixie is the best known and works very well. Instant Eyedropper also does the job,.
