Default Resuming an audio clip from where it stopped when returning to a slide

Hi folks,

I need some help in understanding how to pause and resume animations with audio in PPT 2016 with switching between slides.

I am building a Who Wants to Be a Millionaire game in PPT 2016. The way my game works is that question slides are timed and there is audio that aligns with the clock animations. In the game, when someone wishes to use a lifeline, my intent is to pause the question slide with the audio, open the lifeline slide they wish to use, then return to the question slide while automatically resuming all animations & audio from where they stopped.

Currently, I have a separate slide deck for lifelines that opens when an action button on my question slide is pressed. Within the lifeline deck, I also inserted a return action button that links back to the question slide in my game deck. When I press the return action button, the original question slide loads back up and the animations begin from the point where the slide stopped - as they should. HOWEVER, the audio content does not resume.

I've tried installing a trigger on the question slide to pause the audio and haven't had success. If anything, the audio replays from the beginning of the clip and not from wherever it stopped.

Alternatively, if I hit the escape key while in the lifeline deck, then my original question slide resumes along with the audio. This is the effect I'm looking for, however there are certain animations that I want to play and keep in the lifeline deck too which won't stay active if I press the escape key since I'm effectively closing the file when that happens. (Basically, in the lifeline file when someone activates a lifeline a red 'X' appears over it to signal it can't be used again. I want the red X to stay there for as long as the game is in play. If I press escape, the lifeline file closes, and when reopened again the red X disappears)

So - in PPT 2016 - how do I pause all slide and audio content while temporarily playing another slide, then automatically resume slide/audio content when switching back?

The game otherwise is perfect. And right now this is the only big thorn in my side, so assistance is very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Mike
