At present, when I Group these objects and “Save as Picture”, the resulting exported png has white background around the edges where the shape handles finish, not where the actual shape edges finish.

(sorry for large image size - the top image is how the Group of objects look when selected in Powerpoint. The 2nd image is how the png looks when it is exported. You can see that there is an uneven white boarder around sides and top of the image)

Are you sure those unwanted area are white - they would usually be transparent?

You also might be able to crop those areas away if you reinsert into ppt.

Yes, I think they are transparent actually. Good idea, I could crop them out. But where are they there at all?? Is there any way to export just the grouped shape without the background?

I think you always get a transparent area if there is overlap

Hmm, thats annoying. Clearly, if im exporting the image, its my intention to export only the shape and not the background that the handles extend over. Thanks for your reply anyway. Having said that, its strange - looking at the exported image again, the transparent area around the shape isnt even the same measurements as the space that the object handle area extending over in Powerpoint. Does anyone actually know the reason for this transparent space in the export??

Technically a groups in not a shape though. Not sure how it works out the transparent area though maybe a rectangle based on the corners of the text box.
