Default How can you make changes to a slide that is in multiple decks simultaneously

I have several slide decks which have identical slides within them and I would like to be able to change something in all these slides at once. Potentially from having some warehouse type storage system that would then populate into all the other slide decks, however I would prefer someway to link these slides together to bypass such a system. Would anybody know how to do this within microsoft or if there is any third party software that would do this?

Many thanks

Hi,

While there is no automated way to achieve this you could create a presentation with just the one slide (the one you will be changing) and then in the presentations where you want this one slide to be featured, use the Insert > Object > From File option and ensure you tick the "Link" box. This will link to the original presentation containing the one slide. The slide will be inserted as an image which you can resize to fit the entire slide area.
If you update and save the one slide presentation file, the changes will then filter through to any presentation files you've linked it to. When you open the presentations it will prompt you to Update Links.

Hope this helps.

Awesome thanks very much, that sounds really helpful thanks. Does this mean that I will have to make a separate document for each of these slides.

You could try copy the slide from the master presentation (in the left pane) and then use Paste Special (Slide Object tick Link) in the current presentation

In the master File. Select the slide you need in the left hand pane. COPY it

Switch to the presentation you want to add it to

In the HOME Tab on the left open the Paste Menu and choose PASTE SPECIAL

Select Microsoft PowerPoint Slide Object and check the box for LINK

Resize to full slide size.
