Default Eliminating extra lines when pasting copied text

When I copy text (via CTRL-C) from a program and paste it into a slide (via CTRL-V) there's always extra lines at the end of the text that I have to go back and delete for the slide to center properly. Is there a setting where I can eliminate this from happening?
