Default Problem with audio and pictures...

I want to create a montage of pictures with an audio file playing throughout.

I'm using PowerPoint 2013. In my animation pane:
  • Audio file - timing start set to 'with previous' (so that the audio starts when the slide appears)
  • Picture 1 - time start set to 'with previous'
  • Subsequent pictures - time start set to 'after previous'
All are set to 'animate as part of click sequence'

When I run the slide show, the audio works and picture 1 appears correctly. My problem is that picture 2 (along with the subsequent pictures) only appear after the audio has finished. It's as if the 'after previous' relates to the audio file and not Picture 1, even though the audio file is at the top of the list and the pictures are in order underneath.

Any help gratefully received

Many thanks

James

And sadly that is exactly what happens.

The safest solution is to set all the pictures to with previous but add a suitable delay to each.

It is pants (or at least a bug)

If you change the stop playing setting from "After current slide" to "After 1 slide" which should be the same - it will probably work. Here's the rub though those "clever" MSFT coders know it's the same and as soon as you save it will revert to "After current" and stop working again.

If you know a little coding it's possible to set incremental delays quickly with a macro

Sub fixDelay()
Dim osld As Slide
Dim i As Integer
Dim sngX As Single
On Error GoTo err
Set osld = ActiveWindow.Selection.SlideRange(1)
' to set delays on animations 2 through 5
For i = 2 To 5 ' make sure there are 5 animations!
sngX = sngX + 2.5 ' or whatever
With osld.TimeLine.MainSequence(i).Timing
.TriggerType = msoAnimTriggerWithPrevious
.TriggerDelayTime = sngX
End With
Next i
Exit Sub
err:
MsgBox "Error - " & err.Description
End Sub
