Default Video pausing automatically in PPT2010

In PPT2010, how can I pause a video automatically and have it continue on click?

What I tried so far:

1. Add bookmark and add 'pause' animation on bookmark.
Result: works fine for the pausing, but on click video restarts instead of continuing

2. Add bookmark, add 'pause' animation on bookmark, on click (trigger: click 'play' icon somewhere on the slide) make video disappear, make copy of video appear and have that play 'from' a certain timecode
Result: Pause works, disappearing works, second video doesn't appear

3. Make copies of video file on slide, trim each video to the part to be shown
Result: works fine but is very time consuming; should the video be replaced all the copying and trimming needs to be redone.

4. Just let the video play, click on the screen for pause and click again for restart
Result: works fine but we need the pausing to happen automatically.

Thanks in advance for your ideas!
Kind regards,
Judith.

Hi Judith

Try this and see if it works

I guess you have a with previous PLAY to start the video and a pause set to a bookmark??

Click ADD Animation and add another PAUSE. Set a trigger for this animation of a click on the video. The animation pane should look like this:

If you are not clicking ON the video (but somewhere else) you might also need to add an on click PAUSE

Yes, this works like a charm, John! Even with multiple bookmark pauses, the one 'click on video' pause makes the video continue every time. Never would have figured out by myself to use the 'pause' button instead of the 'play' button.
Thank you so very much for your help, this is exactly what we need!
Best regards,
Judith.

Glad it helps Judith.

Unless you are a programmer and able to delve into the inner workings it is not at all obvious that the "PAUSE" control is in fact a toggle with two effects.

If the video is PLAYING then call STOP
If the video is STOPPED then call START
