Default How to create a days countdown in powerpoint?

Hello everyone

I am trying to create a days countdown for a powerpoint presentation (saying something like - 15 days to Go) to be displayed on a screen at a building entrance. The presention has 3 slides and lots of information on each slide, but i would like to keep the text of the countdown the same on each slide as the information changes .

Do i need to use the VBA to create the days countdown or is there a simple way of creating this without have to manually change the text each day.

Can anyone help with any ideas

Any help is greatly appreciated

thanks

You will need to use vba

The code itself is fairly easy and would be based on

Sub days2go()
Dim daysleft As Long
Dim targetDate As Date
targetDate = "20 April,2013"
daysleft = DateDiff("d", Now, targetDate)
ActivePresentation.Slides(1).Shapes(2).TextFrame.T extRange = "There are " & daysleft & " days to go."
End Sub

The problem is that it will be difficult to make it run automatically and therefore change. How does the information change? Can someone click a button once a day to run the code?

Thanks for the reply john. How do I make this code work on the powerpoint slide ? Do I need to create a textbox or shape ?

Also I am using transitions to change the slides after very 20 seconds and its a bit difficult for someone to click a button as there is no mouse or keyboard where the computer is located so as no one can mess about with the computer.

Is someone needed to click a button everyday using this code, it probabily would be just as easy to manually change the date in presentation each day, if someone needs to click a button.

Thanks anyway john

Unless you are prepared (and able) to write an AddIn there's no reliable way to make the code auto run at daily intervals.
