Account setup stuck
Hi all,
I recently went to setup my account onto Outlook 2010 manually and mistakenly selected to load a Microsoft Exchange server instead of the POP account that I have. Since then, when I click to open Outlook, a message reads: "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online of connected to complete this action." I do not have a Microsoft Exchange server so it will not connect. When I press "OK" a box comes up to reenter the Microsoft Exchange server and then enter the mailbox along with "check name" button. Once I click "OK" a message reads: "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. The file C:\Users\.... is not an Outlook data file (.ost)." When I click "OK" Outlook automatically exits. How can I reset my account to manually enter the proper POP account? I am unable to select any other functions while the messages are up. Thank you in advace, Maggie |

Follow these steps:
Start > Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles In the box, there should be a profile. Highlight it and then select remove. This will remove the Exchange profile from your machine. Then you can create your pop account. |
