Default Business Contact Manager not loading, instead it's Salesforce

Hi,

I've just downloaded and installed Office 2010 successfully (I think), then downloaded Business Contact Manager and tried to install it into Outlook - but it doesn't do so. Instead the extractor begins to load Salesforce Edition 3! I've used Salesforce in the past and had it as an add-in in Outlook 2007, but I've deleted the add-in and folders (and it didn't appear compatible with Outlook 2010 as it crashed all the time when opening).

Is BCM in fact Salesforce? What on earth's happening. Please help.

Many thanks.
Robin

Hi Robin,

did you find a solution for your problem?

I also used Salesorce as an add-in in Outlook and I uninstalled Office 2007 completely before installing Office 2010 64bit.

Then I also tried to install the Outlook Business Contact Manager ( x16-56890.exe ) with the same effect - the installation of Salesforce Outlook Edition 3 starts.

I would be very grateful for any help to solve this mysterious problem.

Many thanks in advance

Oliver

This is an interesting issue and definitely a compatibility issue. Have either of you attempted to uninstall salesforce? Simple deleting the folders does not remove it form your system, you will need to uninstall it.

Let me know as i never used sales force and constant contact works for me on Outlook 2010 using Exchange 2010.

Yes! I uninstalled Salesforce a year ago and also tried to delete the remaining entries of Salesforce in the registry.

I have no idea, where I can find find the remaining parts, which could be the cause for the described effect.

The installer of Business Contact Manager must find some remains of the uninstalled Salesforce and starts the installation of the Salesforce Outlook-Add in instead of the Business Contact Manager.

I found a solution:

1. search all files containing *salesforce* with Explorer Search and delete them
2. run the Business Contact Manager setup.exe ( x16-56890.exe ) and cancel the installation after extracting the files while installing Sales Outlook Edition 3
3. run setup.exe in C:\User\"Username"\AppData\Local\Temp\BcmSetup.de-DE ( maybe BcmSetup.en-EN )
4. Installation succeeds without any problems

Interesting solution. It appears after removal some common files are left that cause the program to reinstall. This sounds like a design flaw but solution noted.

Thanks Again.
