Default Folders within InBox Missing

I just spent two entire days creating subfolders within my InBox and manually moving all of my Entourage 2007 mail into Outlook 2010.

Since they take a while to move, I have been doing it about 100 mails at a time and leaving the computer to do other things. I just came back and there was some kind of server error (sorry. I don't remember the exact text). I tried moving additional mail and nothing would move. So I rebooted.

Opened up Outlook and every single one of the subfolders I have created in the last 48 hours is missing, as are the thousands of mails I moved.

Looks like they don't have a smiley for Crying. Anyone have ideas where the mail might be? I just can't do this again. It's taken me 6-7 weeks to get everything else from my Mac configured and moved over. This was supposed to be the last of it.

Check your hard drive for other .PST files. Folders and messages don't just disappear - chances are they're in a PST file on your hard drive that Outlook just didn't open for some reason.

I did a search on .PST files on my hard drive and found nothing.

I did a search on "Outlook" and it brought up a dialogue that said "type in search box to search in Outlook." I typed a name of someone I knew several years ago and a bunch of mail came up. There is no information about path in the listings, so I don't know where to find it on my hard drive or how to get all of it to save in Outlook. There are hundreds, if not a few thousand.

It's happened to me twice. I created a second set of subfolders in my Inbox. I set up about 20 rules to point new mail into the various subfolders.

In the midst of reviewing mail, my account hangs which seems to happen frequently, even though this is a brand new computer. I am in the midst (in addition to setting up new subfolders) to converting mail from Entourage files to Outlook files and it's been nothing but problems.

Anyway, I do a force quit and when I reopen Outlook. All of the subfolders are gone.

When I go to the Outlook file on my hard drive, there are only two folders. They are the two email addresses that I have pointing to my default address. My default email address does not have it's own folder.

Default This is resolved

Mail was stored in an AppData folder that was hidden. We turned "Show" on and pointed to the App Data folder.

Question How did you fix it?

Hi Chereena,
I have a very similar problem. Since upgrading to Outlook 2010 my subfolders within Inbox have disappeared. Also when I open older backup files with Outlook 2010 I can not see the inbox folder!

You mentioned that you resolved the issue. Could you please describe in detail how to show a "hidden" folder?

Thank you soo much in advance,
Ralf
