Default Outlook 2010: Emails disappearing from inbox

Hi all,
Outlook 2010 n00b here, making the painful transition from Outlook 2003 to 2010

Emails arrive in my inbox as normal, which I read as they arrive.
When I return after some time (a few hours), these mails have disappeared from the inbox.
I've searched high and low for these messages, to no avail.
I'm obviously missing something simple, but I'm too simple to solve it.

Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

What kind of mailbox do you have? Is it a pop account? IMAP? Are you on an Exchange Server?

Do you have any rules setup in your Outlook?

Is it just read email that is disappearing? Are new,unread emails disappearing?

Hi Shawn,
Thanks for your interest.
It's an Imap account.
I'm not on an exchange server.
I haven't set any rules - the program is in default condition - as installed.
I just followed the wizard to set up the account.

I'm really confused, as I've had the program running all morning and no emails have disappeared today. I purposely read some and left some unread. I've also quit Oulook and restarted, shut down laptop and restarted, and still none have disappeared.
Will keep monitoring and report back.

See if this helps: http://www.officeforlawyers.com/outl.../missmess.html Also, do you check your email with a mobile device or other computer also? Can you log into that mailbox webmail and see if the missing messages are still in the webmail Inbox?

Default disappearing emails

I believe it may be internal bios or other settings by Acer. I have a Acer desktop (horrible customer service and will never purchase any of their products) and a Asus laptop. I purchased a Microsoft office 2010 license for three computers and oddly the only one I have had this issue is the Acer desk top. Emails just disappear from the inbox only. I have check every setting with my laptop... I have had other odd issues such as I could not access ITunes store. This was not resolved until I had to wipe the hard drive and reload it. The computer came this way. I also noticed that some programs are not actually saving my last use.... but only on the Acer. Of course they want to pass it off as "software" problem.

What brand of computer are you using?
