Default Update from 2003 outlook to 2007 Cannot sort contacts alphabetically

Recently updated our company to Office 2007.

When in the plane field I have some users not able to sort their emails alphabetically by stroking a key.

Example: I arrange my emails by Date > Then I click in the plane and I want to navigate to say an email from Mary.Jame I press M on my keyboard and it shoots me to all the emails from contacts name starting with M untill I find the one I need.

This works perfect in Outlook 2003. Since updated to 2007 several users and myself have this issue. It seems like sometimes it works. But only for a couple key strokes then it stops.

Any info would be Helpful. Already fully updated with MS Updates.

If you want to jump to e-mails by letter you need to change the "Arrange By" to "From". Then it will work.

I understand that. But I dont want my emails to stay in Arannged By "From" I would like to see if from the most current date. So I can see my most current Emails.

This feature worked in outlook 2003

Dunno what to tell you. In Office 2010 if you want to just type letters and have it jump to a sender you have to have it arranged by From.

The other thing you could do is click in the Search box and start typing the name there. It would then dynamically filter the list to show you matching messages. Not quite as accurate, since it won't automatically be limited to From (though you could click "From:" on the Search Tools group) but it'll work.

Whats odd is this works fine in Oulookt 2003. And my Boss has no problem sorting through his emails by pressing the Letter. No matter how he sorts his emails..

What version of Outlook is your boss using? Frankly, without using search, there's no way for Outlook to know you suddenly want to sort by From when you're already sorted by date, just by you pressing a letter.

When I do it, in Outlook 2010, sorted by date, pressing the letters does nothing. If I Arrange by From then pressing the letters does exactly what you're asking for.

Now if I click in the Search field and start typing letters it certainly filters down the view to show me the senders with those letters.

Do you have "Search Inbox" above the message list in your Inbox? If you click there and start typing does it return search results?
