Unhappy Outlook 2000 SR-1 locked up

I have been using Outlook since 2003. In September, I used up all my memory and it locked up. I deleted quite a few programs that I was not using and it worked for about 2 weeks. Then it locked up again. I purchased an external hard drive with 1 terabyte of memory, assuming that would solve the problem. But it didn't. I can see that it is still loaded, but it won't stay open. New messages were not migrating from my ISP webmail platform.

During the interim period, I have been using my ISP webmail platform. Last night, while attempting to copy and paste an email address from an aquaintance's web page, a small window popped up. At the time, I didn't realize it was an Outlook window. It gave me 3 choices about what to do with the popup window. I believe they were "yes", "no", and "cancel". When I selected each of the first 2 options, the pop up window reappeared. The last one I chose was "cancel". At that point, my own Outlook program, with all the messages I had received before it locked up, miraculously became accessible. I began cleaning up my inbox and even sent two new messages. Then, during the time I was using the progam, all the incoming messages in my ISP's webmail platform migrated to Outlook, as they used to.

Needless to say, I was ecstatic! I didn't know what had happened, but Outlook worked! When I finished using it, I closed the program. This morning, it was locked up again. But now, in addition to the messages I wasn't able to clear out last night, all my recent messages are now inaccessible to me. I am back to square one.

I am desparate to be able to use my Outlook program again. I had forgotten how wonderful it was! I would appreciate anyone who could tell me what I need to do to regain permanent access to my Outlook program.

Ilivitup,

It sounds to me like you are having a RAM issue, not hard drive. RAM (Random Access Memory) helps with the fluidity and performance of any programs. Not having enough RAM often times causes the computer to generate a Memory error and possibly even lock up.

I would recommend attempting to change out your RAM to see if that resolves your issue. Most retail stores will accept returns for RAM, in case that was not the problem.

Please Note: It is recommended to have at least 3 to 4 gigabytes in a computer with Windows Vista or higher as the Operating System.

Hope this helps.

Mophead,
